The commenting and highlighting features of Clarizen’s File Viewer, powered by Crocodoc, will be discontinued as of January 15.
Crocodoc was acquired by Box in 2013 and it is now finalizing the transition to a different viewer technology. As a result, Box will no longer support the commenting features of Crocodoc.
What’s the change?
The commenting, drawing, and highlighting options of uploaded MS Office, PDF and image files will be discontinued as of January 15th.
We are exploring other tools to support annotations in the future.
Will my files be lost?
No. The files are stored on Clarizen systems. However, annotations will be lost.
Can I preserve highlights and comments of an existing file in Clarizen that were made with File Viewer?
Yes. If you download the file as a PDF (using the Download button within the File Viewer), the file and its comments will be saved. You should download files with comments before January 15th.
Will I still be able to preview files?
Yes. A new Box.com viewer will be used that supports full preview functionality.
