License Types Explanation

Below is a detailed explanation of each license type

Full Users

Full users, are often mistakenly associated with Project Managers. This is not necessarily the case; any user that needs to have access to the entire project’s work plan would require this license, even if they are only viewing it.

Clarizen is designed to accommodate a broad, collaborative platform that embraces end user engagement, and leverage the ever-growing wealth of knowledge generated by high performance teams.
The transparency of information and Social platform is where organizations can realize the full potential of their most valuable assets – their people.
Providing Full Users licenses more liberally, does not risk data manipulation by unauthorized users since editing control is still driven by role based and global permissions.

With Clarizen’s ‘Enhanced Permissions’ setting, organizations can even control the viewing access of Full users, restricting them only to projects where they have a role, which is yet another required layer for large organizations with stricter confidentiality requirements.

Team Member

One step below the Full user, Team members are TASK centric, working day to day on completing their tasks, collaborating data(files, notes, discussions), and reporting time against them.

The main limitation of these users is that they cannot see the entire project plan but only the specific tasks assigned to them. This prevents team member users from being able to see who is waiting on them, who they are waiting on and proactively collaborating additional work items in their projects.

The price of these licenses is a bit less from the Full user per month, so often organizations prefer to give Full licenses to these users, since the monetary saving is not that significant while the value can be priceless once all team members collaborate to the full extent of their ability on the entire project.

Time & Expense

As the name implies, these users mainly report time/expense against their activities in formal time/expense sheets making them more accountable for the hours/effort they report.
Using Clarizen time sheets, users can report, not only against project tasks, but also against general administrative activities such as interviewing, admin work, etc.

In addition, these users have access to social discussions, and can submit Custom Actions, i.e. submit forms that trigger workflows, such as submitting a helpdesk, PTO, project, change request and more.

Even though they can report time against project work items, they cannot collaborate on these tasks (notes, discussions, files), which is what sets them apart from Team Users.

Social

The least expensive license, it allows users to sign into Clarizen with an actual user name and password.
They can participate in discussions within the Groups they belong to, and have joint workspaces where they can share files, notes, discussions and even see the Clarizen widgets (Roadmap, Gantt).

These users can also submit Custom Actions items, i.e. submit forms that trigger workflows, such as submitting a helpdesk, PTO, project, change request, etc.

Customers that need a joint, secure, workspace where they can share ideas, submit requests, and work jointly with other team members, rather than rely on emails and attachments residing in individual email inboxes or computers typically use this user type.

This license may also be used by members of other departments who are not project/task-centric but occasionally need to collaborate with licensed Clarizen users and provide input into the shared knowledge base.
