Dependencies based on selection order setting

The Dependencies based on selection order setting for work management defines the order in which dependencies are created between work items in the work plan.

System behavior when the setting is turned off

If the setting is turned off, dependences are selected in the sequential order based on the work plan structure.

For example:

If the setting is enabled, dependencies are created in the order you select work items (by selecting check boxes next to work items) before you click the Link button. In the below example, work items were selected in the following order, which is reflected in the Gantt view:

  1. Work item: Stage 2
  2. Work item: Stage 1
  3. Work item: Stage 3

Enabling the setting

The setting can be enabled at the system level or user level.

To enable the setting at the system level:

  1. As a System administrator, navigate to Settings > System Settings.
  2. Expand the Work Management Settings
  3. Select the checkbox for the Dependencies based on selection order
  4. Click Save.

To enable the setting at the user level:

  1. Navigate to My Details.
  2. Search for the Dependencies based on selection order setting.
  3. Turn on the toggle.
