Assign a Group to a Task Instead of a User?
I have created a Group in the User Management section, however I would like this Group to be an optional resource to add for a task. The thought being, if another manager needs a resource from my team on a project, I don't want them picking a resource from my team, so they would just assign the task to my team, and then I could come in later and assign to a specific user.
Is this possible?

I also would like to know if there is an update on this. And in addition if the possibillity to assign requests to groups instead of only to users is going to be developed in the future.
Actually we do have a solution for this, it is currently in beta and should roll out to all customers in our next major release (beginning of next quarter).

This is not possible at the moment; however this is something that is on our roadmap. What your can do right now is use the advanced resource assignment icon in the toolbar and filter to see only resources in a specific user group and assign from there. We are also working on an app that has user group as a custom field, and based on which group you select it would automatically assign the resources to that task.

This will be available later this year but there is no time frame for availability yet. Please refer to CR-11558/CR-227162 in the future.
These are the internal ID of the submitted requests. Internal as in they are being tracked and handled within internal software that our development team updates and we can reference to get updates when requested. Typically, we only provide this information to the customer that submitted the request but obviously when this is done here in the community forum, it is open to any customer that searches for this information.
It is definitely why we push our customers to submit their Suggestions here because if a case is opened that is not seen by all others.

This will be part of a larger release that includes 'Resource Management Improvements'. This will come in stages throughout the rest of this year and into 2016. At this time, I do not have an ETA for when exactly this request will be implemented.
Sorry, no ETA yet. This is in step 2 of 5 in the product request pipeline. Step 3 is when it gets a formal ETA.
I would also like an update on this. I was just asked to assign an entire team as resources to all tasks within a milestone that's part of a project template. I'd rather not hard code individual users in the template because that's difficult to manage as people come and go. If I could assign the corresponding user group instead, then I just have to maintain the members of that group.

Hi Team, do we have a functional solution for this request?
From our perspective, we would like the ability to schedule the group to a task, and have this task reflected in a schedule for the individual resource - noting that resources may be added or removed from a group right up until the moment a particular task is completed.
Keen to know how this is tracking please.

Hi Boris, where would a user refer to these? Are they shared across all users or only the user/s who submitted them?
