The Excel add-in will not work on OSX without using a Windows emulator unfortunately, but this is something we are looking to address later this year. Likely we will do an integration with Google Docs so that you can have Excel-addin functionality across any device, including iOS/Android tablets and Chromebooks.
Excel add-in on Mac OSX?
Is it possible to get the Excel add-in working on Mac OSX? The installation file for the add-in is a Windows .exe file. I had a colleague send me an Excel document that was created using the add-in but presumably the add-in code does not come in the Excel document but needs to be installed separately?
If there any other data extract or query tool that can be used from a Mac to get information out of Clarizen?

The benefit of an Excel plug-in is that in Excel, you can pretty much bend and twist the figures in any way you like. Our need comes specifically from the fact that our invoicing is based on the our reporting, but there are rather complex business rules on how invoicing finally comes out.... like are we over budget or below budget.
So although better in-built reporting is likely a welcome addition, I do not think that it would completely remove the need for the Excel plug-in.
Any update on this request? We use excel 2016 on Mac. Having the plug in for Mac would be very helpful
No updates yet. With the improved Reports & Dashboards system there has been less effort put into the Excel Add-in.
The original post was made on March 13, 2014 and still not available for Mac version of Excel. Josh you appear to by the representative of Clarizen, when will you believe the plug-in will be available?
As a BA, will you allow for other tools to be plugged in to allow for easier access to the database to run SQL queries. At this point it appears you will need to run webservices and REST calls to access values from the database. Is this still going to be the case?
There is a Data Warehousing integration that let's you mass export the data and pull it into BI tools. I would recommend discussing with your AE or CSM.
You mean the $1000/month data warehouse module? I think many of us will prefer to continue to use the Excel add-in or API calls.
Hello, maybe we at Constant Software can help you? We have been using Clarizen for quite some time because of a customer project (our customer is a licensed user of Clarizen), and also, what we among other things do for our customers is development on Mac OS X.
I will definitely bring that up to our product team, but there is a general direction of focusing improvements on our in-app reporting module and reducing the need for an add-in.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I don't see it on the near-term roadmap. Most of the effort in this area is going towards minimizing the need for the add-in and bake as much functionality as possible into the reporting and dashboards modules. The more we can get into the core product without requiring apps or downloads, the better. Separate example, there is a goal to eliminate the need for the Data Loader by dramatically improving import-from-spreadsheet functionality across the system later this year.
