How to designate a project as a "portfolio"

Hello.  I notice in the reporting tool there is a a field named <Project>.Portfolio

I am trying to figure out how I can set that attribute on a project so that I can filter/search on the Portfolio field?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Ron,

We are hoping to make this more visible in a future release but this can easily be seen by going to the Project Module and adding the Porfolio field as a column in the Workplan. The field is a Toggle that allows you to turn it ON/OFF (True/False) to change the Project into a Porfolio and back.

Thank you! I had actually found the "hidden" switch for this.

But that leads to another question (please!)... when I attempted to change an existing project into a portfolio I got a warning that some of the time settings of it's sub projects would require manual intervention. Can you expound on what those manual changes would be? In other words, what are the side-effects of converting?

Thanks again!

Ron,

Since you are adding another tier to your hierarchy, essentially, you need to verify your Start, End and Due Dates are still accurate as they may be affected based on roll up and overall Portfolio/Project Structure changes. Simply be sure that the dates do not change and manually reset them as required.
