% completeness uncertain

I see when I create a formula for a workflow, there is a project field available called $CompletnessDefinition which is named % Completeness Uncertain. However, this isnt available for display in views or property cards. What is this field and what does it mean?

Thanks.

Christopher,

This field determines whether or not there is an “?” in the % complete. So to explain further, the % Complete will show a value with a '?' when the system is unable to properly verify the value calculation is correct due to certain settings made (manual overrides).

The ? appears when system cannot calculate the %complete or Actual Effort or Remaining Effort based on the provided numbers for example:

Work = 8h

%complete manually set to 25%

Actual Effort manually set (or from timesheet) = 6h

Remaining Effort will show with a ? as the calculation is impossible

Hope that this information helps you.

Sincerely,

Boris

Christopher,

To further answer your question, left out the most important part...

Since this is meant to work in the back end for other fields, it is not exposed as an available field in the work plan.

That you for all the detail. Two follow up questions:

  • the values of this element are either "?" or blank?

  • if it is ?, does % complete still have a value? The reason I ask is we are seeing that when we will % complete into a report using the excel plug in, if the % complete has a ? it does not pull in at all (no value).

Chris,

I am not certain this should happen, please open a ticket so that we can look into it and help you figure out why your Excel Plugin is not pulling in the data correctly.

The '?' should not affect that. If there is no %Complete (i.e. 0), the default is that it will be blank but you can change this to show as 0 by modifying the field in the Work Plan View (Gear Icon/Settings-->Manage)...

On right side of the Choose Fields... window, you will see a format column and the default for % Complete is 'Full percentage values (do not show '0')', you can change this to 'Full percentage values (show '0') so that it will show 0 instead of blank.

Sincerely,

Boris

Thanks, also, when I pull the field into a report for a project - $CompletnessDefinition - the value returned is '2'

Weird.
