Is it possible to move files or other related objects from one project to another? Ideally as a batch. I'm not seeing anything obvious.

You can select multiple files from your desktop and drag them into the add related panel as a "bulk upload." - http://screencast.com/t/t6NiSUKy
Could you provide specific examples of other related objects? For example, data loader can be used to bulk import a list of customers and related information.

Yes this can be done. Go to the Work Plan of the Project, highlight the Task(s) that you wish to move. Then on the Toolbar Ribbon go to the Misc tab (link) and select Move. Select the Destination Project or expand the Project and select the Milestone or Task that you want to move the Tasks to.
