how to optimize a scheduled work flow to ensure the hourly API limit is not exceeded.

I have created a scheduled work flow to send a customized report on a weekly basis to a distribution list. However it seems that when it runs it exceeds the hourly API limit. How do I optimize the work flow so that this does not happen?

What Item type are you running the rule on? Most make the mistake of running at the Resource or Work Item level. Try running at the Organizational level and see if that helps.
