Batch Mode in REST API

Hi,

The SOAP API provides a batch functionality that greatly increases performance when updating a great number of entities. This is set in the "CallOptions" of the client. However I wasn't able to find how to enable this in the REST API. Is there any way or it is not needed at all when using the bulk service?
