Is it possible to fix the column width for the different views in each module?

The ability to set and save column widths on any module, item detail view, or report would be extremely helpful.

It is nice that the column width is retained from the last time I adjusted a view, but are these column widths saving to this view for everyone who has access to it?

In the reporting function, I have the same question? While the column widths appear to remain set when I come back to the report, but can I save column widths for the view for the entire team?

Out of curiosity, were column widths staying fixed a part of the most recent product update?

Thanks!

Reports and Dashboards never had saved column widths, but this is becoming a very popular feature request (CR-313866). I have added you to the list of customers requesting this feature.

Thanks for the follow up, Josh.

Can you confirm a response to the question:

"It is nice that the column width is retained from the last time I adjusted a view, but are these column widths saving to this view for everyone who has access to it?"

Also, where can I follow the status of this feature request? What is the threshold for Clarizen to implement this feature?

Thanks!

If you are editing a view, column widths are saved for all users that have access to it until they made their own personal changes. If they go and further adjust column views then the system will retain their preferences only for that user.

You can follow up on this thread, I am going to change the title to reflect the request on reports. There is no standard threshold as each request is prioritized not only by the number of customers that request it, but by alignment to strategic objectives, effort required to implement, and a few other factors.

Our Customer Success Manager mentioned this would included in this weekend's update, but I still don't think it's functioning as intended.

I have found a way to get the reports in the correct format, albeit not intuitive and definitely a usability bug.

To do it:

  • When viewing the report, edit the column widths by dragging left/right on the line in between them to where you want them.
  • Click Edit to edit the report.
  • At the top, “Import” the changes made when prompted.
  • Now, DO NOT click Save and Run. Instead, click Cancel. This will display the report in the desired format.
    1. Note that if Save and Run is clicked at any time, you will need to start over and realign the columns again.

Hope this helps!

Regards,

Jarred

Hana,

Sorry for the delayed response. It should retain the column width from the last time you were showing the view. Are you referring to a specific view/column/scenario?

Please add me to this request as well. It is frustrating to see e-mailed reports look unusable due to column widths.

Hi Jarred. Saved column widths was part of the release over the weekend. I just ran a test on one of my reports and the column width was saved even after logging out and logging back in. Can you test one more time?  Thanks!

This still doesn't work. It seems using the gentleman's hack above I can get my own report to retain the column widths, however the minute someone else accesses the report, the columns widths default back to the ghastly format they had previously. It just makes reporting near unusable if it requires my C-level and execs to manually reset the column widths before they can even consume any of the data.

This was already released, but if you go to edit a report it does reset the widths.

Will there ever be a fix that the column widths will stay even if the report is edited?

Also, it would be nice if this setting stays for anyone who opens the report.

I wouldn't call this a fix, this was never part of the planned functionality. I think this feature request has a good chance of making its way into the system (as saved column widths in reports did), but it is far lower priority than the major items currently in development such as financial planning, resource optimization, etc.

I would also like to request this feature.  In some of my views the default column sizes are impossible to use.
