We've re-introduced the feature in Data Loader to download a spreadsheet containing a list of fields in rows. This is a convenient reference of available fields used mainly by API integration Developers and Admins that need to verify they have set up their data model before they prepare templates.
A reminder - the file cannot be used to upload data, like the Fields List template.
