FollowResource's task due date updates based on vacation without affecting future tasks
We use fixed duration and need to keep our projects set that way. One challenge we have is when employees take vacation, if a task is due while they are out the due date does not change on their task list unless we manually shorten the duration and add a lag after to keep the rest of the project as is. Unfortunately this is not realistic for us to try to manage it this way.
We do not want the specific task due date to change since that would change the rest of the project plan and it is important to note that when we assign an employee work that will fall when they have vacation, we ensure that they are here for part of the task duration so workload-wise it is fine since Clarizen puts their work time into the days they are here. Where they get stuck is seeing the due date of the task in their task list as a date they are not here.
They understand they need to be aware of their upcoming vacation time and ensure the tasks that land on those days are done prior to being out however, it would be nice if there was a feature that could show that user their own due date based on their vacation time while somehow keeping the real task due date behind the scenes so the rest of the project does not adjust.
I do not believe there is a feature like this but please let me know if there are any other options we are not thinking of.
Thanks!
