How to identify when the state of a case was last changed


I am trying to write a report that produces a list of cases in a particular state and when they were set to that state but I am having trouble identifying when the state was last changed.

For example, generating a list of cases in Resolved state and when they were set to Resolved so I can report on cases Resolved by month.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I would create a custom field (Something like State Changed Date) And then have a workflow rule running on when State is changed to write the date into the custom field.

You can then use the last change date in your report to group into the 'resolved by month'
