Profiles are currently supported on iOS but not Android. The request is to support mobile profiles on Android. For future reference, the feature request ID is CR-378459.

I think mobile features should always be released in parallel across the key mobile platforms. It creates problems in organisations where people have a mix of platforms and holds me (as admin) back of releasing mobile functionality.
As a huge Android user myself I would agree, but the same team is handling both versions so instead of delaying both versions they are doing things sequentially versus in parallel. For smaller features I think they will shoot for parallel.
This is greating a large gap in user experience accross the gloabl team.
