Perfoming Task assignments from the Resource Load View

Hello,

Im a big fan of the resource load view but I still haven't been able to work out how to use the 'Assign Resources to Task' & 'Unassign from Task' buttons.

Regardless of whether I use the screen as an admin, super user, the PM of the tasks in question or as the resources direct manager these buttons are always greyed out?

Ive had a look at your nice wiki article but it doesn't make any mention of how to use these buttons or if there are particular permissions required?

Any help (ideally soon!) would be really useful.

Thanks,

Douglas

Douglas,

Start by switching to "Daily" view.

Highlight a task row – the Unassigned button become
available.

Select any cell of a specific day on any resource row - the Assigned
button become available.

I agree that it's not intuitive. We are planning to change
that in one of the upcoming HF's and add Drag and Drop (task to resource)
capability in V6 (Apr 2013).

Uri

Thanks Uri, that's very helpful.

It might be worth adding a quick note to that effect in the wiki I agree its not perfect but good to know how to use it nonetheless.

One quick followup. When I select one cell and assign a task (of say 20 days duration) I get two prompts, the first one asking me if I want to change the task duration to 1 day then another asking if I want to make the non-working weekend days working days. I said no to both these dialogs and the task was assigned correctly.

My question is: is there anyway to disable or avoid those two dialogs. I want to roll this feature out to our users but as far as I can see they will always be answering no to both those prompts so being able to get rid of them would be really helpful.

If you cant disable them adding a quick system setting to turn them on in a HF would be great! :)

Thanks again,

Douglas

Prompt regarding duration and/or start/due date needed due
to the differences in the scheduling parameters. One can select more than one
cell and the duration will be different. Same goes for the non-working days,
the prompt is to avoid mistakes.

I cannot promise you that we'll deal with that in a HF due
to prioritization and time constraints, but I'll take it into consideration for
the changes in V6.
