What does the red asterisk mean?

Hello,

In some instances I have noticed a red asterisk  against items within Clarizen but am confused as to what it means.

I found an FAQ that stated that "When other users log in, they will see how many new notes have been posted to work items relevant to them in the "What's New" section of their homepage. In the Work Plan, unread notes are marked with a red asterisk to highlight them." ( http://www.clarizen.com/community/clarizen-training-center/clarizen-faqs.html)

This sort of makes sense when I see the asterisk against projects that a user has not yet opened bu why do I see it it in the properties view of users against the First name, last name, email and display name fields? Does it mean 'new' here too??
