Yes, it does stay in history. There is no way to tie the chat to a specific project yet, but that is a feature that is being discussed.

Chat Messages History
Once a message or conversation is logged in the Chat function, does it stay in the History forever? Also, is there a way to tie the conversation to a specific project (similar to Discussions?) using hash tags?
