We do have a feature in planning that will allow you to assign a user group as a resource, but I don't believe there is an official ETA yet. It is possible to create a customization that will let you pick a user group and all resources from that group will be assigned (I would talk to your CSM for more details).
Group as Resource or Resources with custom Work Hours
We have several departments that we need to schedule as a single resource group. (For example, a set of identical CAM machines or a team of welders) Ideally we would like to make one overall resource (Person) for the department and assign all work tasks to that "person". We would then like to set the number of work hours available in each day according to the size of the team. For example:
Work Hours/Day: "32"
However, we can't set the number of work hours/day higher than 24.
We've also considered making dummy resources for a group and then assigning the task to the group, but it does not appear that we can assign a task to a group.
Can you advise the best way to schedule in this format?

Thanks Josh. Any chance we can set a custom value for hours available per day?
How would I find our account's CSM?
Can you elaborate on hours per day? Are you looking to set the exact hours in which resources are working for specific tasks, or just general available hours each day (can use the calendars for this)?
As for your CSM, you should have received a welcome email with his/her contact info. I believe your CSM is Rob Sidhu (firstname.lastname@example.org)
I was referring to total hours available each day. (You can use the calendars for this, but only up to 24 hours). My goal is to be able to intelligently set the total work hours per day available to each resource. For example, if I had a team of (3) 8-hour welders that I schedule as a single resource, I would like to put their available work hours at (24) work hours per day. The goal is that the resource work load reports for those resources be accurate. I have a few resources that have 32 man-hours of work available each day.
Got it, unfortunately there is no way to set more than 24 working hours per day at the moment for a calendar. What I would do is set a normal 8 hour working work and use the work field to overload that resource. That way you can see that 500% utilization means you need 5 resources for that day (or 40 work hours).
Thanks, we'll proceed with that for now.
Did the feature to be able to assign a group as a resource to a task ever get implemented, Josh? Thanks!
