I can't install the excel add-in

I had the Excel add-in installed previously, but I had to replace my computer.  Now I can't re-install it.  I can download it, but when I try to install it, I get this:

Name: Clarizen Excel Add-in V3

Can you try uninstalling it using the control panel and then installing it again?

Hi Josh,

Thank you for your reply.  I can't find the add-in anywhere in the control panel.  Is it possible that it won't show up since it was not fully installed on the new machine?

Hi Jon,

If the plug-in does not appear in (Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs), it may be possible it was not fully installed. Please refer to our Troubleshooting guide: http://usermanual.clarizen.com/#16-1-1-7-troubleshooting-for-excel-add-in.

Especially, the following steps:

Complete the following steps:

1. Remove your existing plug-in (Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs)
2. Open the Windows command line (Start -> Run).
3. Run this command: rundll32 dfshim CleanOnlineAppCache.
4. Re-install the developer version.
5. Log in using your Clarizen credentials in the Excel document.

If the same error occurs, try this:

  1. Ensure Excel is closed.
  2. Browse (type this on the address bar of windows explorer, or 'Start+Run' ) to this directory on your computer: %localappdata%\Apps\2.0
  3. Delete everything under this directory (it's just a cache). If some files are used and cannot be deleted, you'll have to log off Windows.
  4. When the directory is empty retry the installation.

I have the same problem.  I'm trying to load on a brand new Win 8.1 (surface).  I get the same message as above.  I've tried a bunch of stuff, including your suggestions to no avail.

Hi Diana,

Thanks for your input.

I tried your suggestions above, but haven't had any success.  The app still doesn't show up in my list of programs available for un-installation, and the cache clearing technique didn't work either.

It may be helpful to note that I, too, am now using Windows 8.1.

Can you put in a support ticket?  I would like to escalate this ASAP.  FYI, I do run the Excel add-in on two computers that are on Windows 8.1 with Office 2013, but have not installed it from scratch in some time.

Sure.  How would one go about putting in  a support ticket?

Hi,

I want to update everyone on the latest happenings with my Excel Ad-in installation.  I just submitted a support ticket.  Immediately after sending it, I tried installing again.  It worked.  I did absolutely nothing different.  I just hadn't tried installing it for a couple of days.   I have no idea why, but it works now.  Thanks for everyone's help.
