You would have to do this with a workflow rule. I would recommend the Advanced Q&As (http://webinars.clarizen.com).
Default Status for To-Do List Task
I want to be able to add a Task to my To-Do List, and not have it automatically turn to "green" showing "on-track". Can I do this via a setting or do I have to create a custom work flow?
I couldn't find a setting, so I tried to create a work flow with an action to Update Field, however when I try to set the value as "Draft" I get a syntax or run-time error.
Any help is appreciated.

I did dial into the Advanced Q&A today, but after speaking with Lori it seems I fell victim to the known bug where the Webinar invite was to the wrong room. So I was not able to ask this question since I couldn't join the session.

Sorry about the connectivity issues. I went ahead and quickly created the rule to allow for this. This will change all new To Do List items to Draft, upon creation. Note, you might need to refresh your screen (after creating the task) to see its state changed.
