The project is late and I want to see the expected completion of the milestones and the project end based on the current situation (actual dates vs. planned date) without changing the 'production' schedule.

You can add a field called "Committed Date" to indicate this target. This is an out-of-the-box field but you can also create a custom date field (Settings >> Configure) and call it whatever you would like.

Thanks but I am not clear of what the committed date will do, I basically want to see the impact of revising the schedule (rescheduling based on the actual dates ) on the uncompleted milestones and end date. I want to it in a simulation mode (i.e not to change the actual schedule)
