Task Visibility in Timesheets - Completed Tasks

We are having two issues with task visibility on time sheets.

The first issue is that even though the "allow users to enter time for completed tasks" is checked, people cannot see or get to completed tasks.  Once the task is marked as complete, the line item disappears from their sheet.  If you try to search for the task under the "add an existing reportable item," the task cannot be found (entering the task ID, the name, anything).  This is also the case for tasks with multiple users when the project manager marks a task as complete to keep the project moving, but one of the resources hasn't entered his time yet for that day.

The second issue is that if assume a user is entering their time throughout the week (as they have been asked to do), and on Wednesday they enter 5 hrs against a task and then mark that task as complete, that task disappears from their timesheet and the hours disappear from their total for the day.  I want people to mark tasks as complete as soon as they are, but the users want to wait until the end of the week so that they can verify they have entered their appropriate hours for each day.  It would be ideal if marking a task as complete didn't make it vanish from their timesheets until the end of the week or the start of the next week.

Thanks,

Brandon

Hi Brandon,

You might have a filter on in timesheets. What you want to do is "Clear All" filters and if you want to see completed items, you can choose the filter "State = Completed." Please refer to my screenshot. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you.  You are correct.  While I was aware of the visible active filters, I had some background filters running as well.

Thanks,

Brandon

The solution provided was helpful but the concern is that a resource could end up with a very long list of tasks (if showing both active and completed tasks) which is why only showing active tasks was ideal. Wouldn't this be the case?

It is true that it would be ideal to be able to filter for active tasks, enter your time, and mark as complete without those lines disappearing for that week so the math adds up.  I'm guessing that is far more complex of a nested-if filter than anybody wants to develop at the moment.
