If people not specified by "Notify" in Discussion, even Followers do not get immediate email notification?

When adding a Discussion post to a lower level task of a project, if I do not specify the names of specific people via "Notify", no one will immediately receive an email notification? In this case, will all Followers immediately receive an email notification? Or will they have to go to their Home page to see what has been posted?

Hi Jonathan,

Great question! This depends on what settings your users set up on their profile page under Notify me. See link: http://screencast.com/t/cpDKUfGdsYd If this setting is set to Notify me: On every post and user is a follower on a leaf task, he/she should immediately receive an email notification when the discussion is posted.
