Non-standard use case for timesheets

I am looking for a way to set up something so that hourly employees can use Clarizen to submit their weekly timesheets.  These are not going to be for project related tasks, as these are operational employees.  We simply want a place to capture number of hours worked in a day, calculate OT, and account for PTO or time out of the office.  Is the best way to accomplish this via to-do lists?  We're not so much concerned with clock in/clock out times as we are with number of hours to be paid for.

Ashley,

This can be done with Tasks or "To Do" work items. To Do work items are Tasks that are not linked to a parent work item (Milestone or Project)... They are a stand-alone Task. If you specify these as Reportable and "Actual Effort Updated from Timesheets) you can have the resources use the Timesheets to update their time on the tasks.

Be sure to specify how the system handles the time based on Submitting and Approval settings for timesheets. See System Settings --> 11. Time Tracking for related settings.

Sincerely,

Boris

Thanks Boris.  A follow up question - is there a way that I can assign all users in a specific group to these tasks or is the user maintenance one by one?

Ashley,

Yes and No... You will need to be looking at a View that uses the Team View Panel (Task Module) so you can see the users. This view would allow you to assign multiple Tasks by highlighting and using drag n drop to the name of the User(s) one at a time. Unfortunately, you cannot do this for an entire Group in one shot out of the box. This would require a Custom Action or be requested as a Change Request.

Sincerely,

Boris
