Resources can't change dates

Hi,

I was wondering if I could get some clarification on something. I've created a project, which I know makes me automatically the manager on that project. I've then added some tasks, and assigned resources to those tasks. I then asked those resources (who are Team Member license users) to go in and input their date and work estimates, but it seems like they don't have access to make those changes. How come even though they're a resource for that task they can't make any changes to it? Is it that only managers can make those changes?

That seems to create some issues as we often have a case where the project manager will create the project, and ask resources for input on their assigned tasks. But if they can't put that in on their own, there's a big delay in the workflow if they need to tell the manager anytime they need to change something on that task.

Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

You are correct. Only the Project Manager and Manager can make changes to work item names, work, duration, dates and more as these make the Project and should not be tampered. Letting Resources change these loosens security. Making these types of changes on the Project work plan is meant to be done by the Managers, not the Resources. The resources are meant to put in time and details of work done so Resources can change fields such as Actual Effort, Remaining Effort and % Complete as well as Related Items like adding Files and Expenses, etc.
