Real-time time tracking

"Clarizen is one of the best solutions i've seen...only problem (personally) is that i need a component that tracks users time logged in real time.

For example, for resources to access a task, and start a timer when they begin work, and stop the timer when they complete the task. this would log their actual hours into the timesheet, instead of having them input times after the fact.

I haven't been able to find this feature during my trial, is this something that's on the horizon, or perhaps there is an add-on i can apply..?"

-We are releasing a new feature in time tracking where instead of entering in the total amount of time they worked on a task, they can enter their start time and when they stopped. The system will then automatically calculate the total amount of time. Will this help?

Hi Phil,

We are definitely planning to develop a stopwatch functionality in Clarizen, either in 5.0 or 5.5. This functionality will also be available even sooner via the iPhone app, which is due out in a month or so.

I must say, the iPhone app is pretty amazing. I was amazed to see that even the feedback from business rules comes back to the iPhone app. (eg. Time sheet entries should be bigger than 0.1 ; we have a validation rule for that)

With 5.0 just released it clear that the stopwatch functionality wasn't in that release. Is there a date on the release that will contain this functionality?

Hi Gijs,

It is slated for v5.2 with low chance of slippage. So just a few months or less away.

Hi Gijs,

I'm sorry but it actually go delayed so that we could release custom actions instead which we felt would add a much greater amount of benefit. Custom actions allow you to basically create your own action menus anywhere in the system (such as finding and replacing all the managers in the project, reporting time from the project view, converting a request to a project, and filling out custom forms to create projects).

Stopwatch is now scheduled for v5.3 in September.
