I want to generate a status report on a single project. At the same time I want certain report fields to be Horizontally aligned e.g Project Name, Start Date, End Date & Project Manager on the top of the page whereas other fields to be vertically aligned.
1. How can I generate a report on a single project out of multiple projects?
2. How can I re-organize the placement/display of fields/columns for view and later export to pdf format?

Based on your request, I think the App would provide you with what you are looking for but if you simply want to build a Report in the Report module and export as PDF as necessary, you can certainly do that.
You will need to create a Report that reports on Project with relational data on Sub Items so that you can see data on the work items. At the same time, you create a report on Work Items with a relational link to Parent Projects but there could be issues with this if you have multiple levels of Projects. For example... Portfolio with sub project, which has a sub project, etc.
