Yes, it's possible via a regular update call with the ExternalID field.

Updating the ExternalID through API
Our IT dept is working on the API access to Clarizen for future automated project creation. However, we already have a number of projects created in Clarizen that correspond to projects in our CRM system.
Can the GUID that Clarizen creates be updated with a new ExternalID value if the project has already been created in Clarizen?
