Great question. The critical path shows the least amount of time in which a project can be completed. If a work item on the critical path gets delayed, it will push back the due date on your entire project. Critical path is automatically calculated by the system by analyzing your project schedule. In order to remove a task or milestone from the critical path, you will have to adjust your project schedule (provide more slack in your dates for item completion).
