Subprojects are also saved as part of templates. If you do not want the subproject in the template you can detach it temporarily, save the template, then bring back the subproject.

FollowProject Within a Project
I'm not sure why this happened. I had a project that had a sub project in it. I created it as a template and I used the template to create a new project. I noticed the subproject was duplicated as well. Is there a reason why the subproject is created and shows on the project page? If I delete it in the project list it will disappear in both places.

By detach do you mean delete it and then restore it?
There is a detach action either in the Misc or Utilities menu (see image below)
Thanks, but I'm not showing that choice in my version. I decided to create it as a milestone and will delete it from the project.
Pam - Did you try the 'Other Actions' Tab? I believe that Detach option is located under this button.
Ah, I should have also mentioned that a project needs to be selected in order to see that option in the menu.
It is there but it's grayed out -- I'm not sure why.
Are you selecting the top project or a subproject? It will only appear when selecting the subproject and you need to have Project Manager permissions.
OK, that makes sense -- thanks.
