Dont think there is a way. May be easier to scope your projects and see which task you can change to make them Milestones and they will show on the road map.

Update Roadmap view without upsetting the project/s
Since the introduction of the portfolio optimization, major milestones which we want to see on the roadmap can no longer be displayed. There is no easy way to show quickly all the milestones that exec's want to see. Can we add a feature to allow projects to have this ability to display major timelines without affecting the overall programme.

You can still display milestones on the roadmap. All you need to do is use the "Roadmap Visibility" button on the ribbon to determine which work items should show up in the Roadmap.
