How can I restore % complete in a custom action?

I have a custom action that does a calculation and puts a value into actual effort in sub tasks I use for booking.  This also manually sets the %complete can I somehow revert that?  I have tried to set it to NULL in attempts to clear it but it still has to be manually restored.

Hi Melissa,

Reverting the % complete to be automatically calculated is not supported in business rule as that field is not exposed. For example reverting other fields (like duration, work etc.) have a complementary field that you can set to FALSE and this will revert the field to be automatically calculated.

Can you please elaborate on the case and what is the desired business outcome?

Thanks,

Tamir

Thanks Tamir, I am glad I have interpreted the available fields correctly.

Basically, I have a custom action that sets the actual effort in a non-reportable task.  That has an undesired side effect of Clarizen also setting the %complete and no longer calculating it forevermore.  I would like to make use of the default Clarizen calculations for %complete but set the actual effort via a custom action. The reason this is an issue is because it doesn't seem to keep doing it properly and, eventually, the %complete does not reflect actual vs work.

It's possible that this is actually a bug because if I do this through the UI, it autocalculates the %complete.  Perhaps I should be submitting a bug instead of a how to?

Hi Melissa,

Did you check out the following field?

Calculate %complete based on efforts

I think it is doing exactly what you are looking for.

Thanks,

Tamir
