FollowMultiple Stopwatches, not Multiple Tasks
Using a stopwatch multiple times a day for multiple tasks results in a bunch of unwanted lines in the time sheet view. Supporting multiple interlocked stopwatches would provide a much better user experience without the need for extra task lines in the Time Sheet view.
Today, doing the following use case in a single day would result in a new task line for each repeated use of the stopwatch for a given task making the stopwatch view messy and hard to use.
Multi-Stopwatch Use Case:
In this use case, each task has its own stopwatch for the day, but only one stopwatch can be active at any given moment in time.
- Start task 1
- Pause task 1
- Start task 2
- Pause task 2
- Start task 3
- Pause task 3
- Resume task 1
- Pause task 1
- Resume task 2
- Etc
You would never have two stopwatches on at the same time, but you could pause multiple stopwatches at the same time which is not supported today. This would be a more powerful implementation IMHO.
Entering the time as you go means mental math that = problematic for many. What will likely happen is ballpark estimates at the end of the day/week.
In addition, another really cool feature would be a multi-task stopwatch feature that shows up on top of all windows all the time and reminds you that it’s still on every hour to prevent you forgetting about it. That would be cool! ;-)
