Lag time for updates?

I'm seeing lots of system updates every day around 02:00 and 04:30. Are others seeing this? My concern is that when updates are made, associated date changes are NOT real time and would need to wait until the next day for ALL of the changes to take.

Thoughts on what can be done to ensure ALL updates and associated changes are real time?

Thank you much

Which updates are you referring to?  Many of the system's daily scheduled updates such as updating status for work items will happen between midnight and 4am.

HI Josh, of all the updates happening between midnight and 4 AM, a bit over 12% are dates related and a bit over 65% are earned value and financial related. How can I ensure the dates's updates are done immediately where as the Earned value items are done in the morning hours? Note, we are not using earned value nor financial functionality. If i could disable those too, that would be great.

Appreciate the feedback!

Moreover, is there a way to either disable the earned value and financial calculations or ensure those are the only ones made between midnight and 4 AM and that all updates to dates are made immediately?

Thank you.

There is no way to disable the financial or earned value calculations; however, they should also have no impact on scheduling. The main reasons why scheduling would be delayed would be if there is a massive number of dates that need to be changed. Even then, it will queue up in the job server and execute as soon as possible, not necessarily between midnight and 4am.

Hi Josh, agree, earned value calculations would have no impact on the date changes, but they do take a significant amount of processing power.

However, apparently we do have a massive number of date changes needing to happen. i.e. date changes are happening in the middle of the night. As identified below, of all the changes happening between midnight and 4 AM, around 12% are changes related to dates. My ask/dilemma is how can I ensure that ALL date changes are made "immediately" versus having a good amount change during the midnight to 4 AM. Would I change the "run order" of workflows?

Thank you.

I don't think the run order would help in this case. The two options would be to reduce the size/complexity of the projects or to turn off workflow rules. You can do one quick test and turn off all workflow rules then change dates to see if it will calculate real-time. If it still doesn't calculature, then the issue is the size/complexity of the projects.
