How can I make a custom field be used for projects and tasks?

Create a custom field in work item / project called zone, but having been created for project I cannot use it for task.

Is there any way to make this same field be used in task

If you create a custom field on the object "Project" it will only be available for projects. If you create a custom field on the object "Work Items" it will be available for Tasks, Milestones, and Projects.  

There is a similar situation for Cases, which is the parent object for Bugs, Issues, Risks, and Requests.
