You could use a shortcut object, which provides visibility to a object in multiple places but only the original can record progress or time.

Same task with same resource and work effort s in multiple projects
I have several projects where the same task (resource, work) applies. I can certainly have that task appear in each project plan but then the work time would be multiplied by the number of times that task appears. How can i have the same task in multiple projects without overstating the work?
