Why Is the Owner field not available for update by Custom Action

Hello,

We want to have user "A" click a button to create work items (tasks) that will have user "B" as the Owner. However the Owner field is not available to be updated in the custom action. Is this not possible?

Thanks,

Tim

Timothy,

Does User A have proper permissions to make changes to fields such as Owner on Task? How do you have your custom action configured? If this requires investigation, you may want to open a ticket and provide the custom action and temporary access.

Hi Boris,

I am an admin user so I certainly have access. Really the point is that while creating a custom action that deals with updates to work items like tasks, the option is just not available. Are you saying that it should be?

Hi Boris,

Your reply prompted me to look again and see if I could do this outside of my current custom action. And I do have the option in a new custom action. So it must be my sequence of events possibly. I will try some other things to see if I can find a solution. Thanks for your reply it help me ask more questions of myself.

Hi Tim, an Admin does not have permissions to change fields such as Owner. You need to have a managerial role in the project (or a parent project) or be set as a Super User in addition to being an Admin. Most Admins are also setup to have Super User permissions.
