Absolutely, this is definitely possible with a tweak to your custom action. I would recommend the Advanced Q&A webinars to go through step by step what needs to be done ( http://www.clarizen.com/live-demo.html). Basically your are going to just create a new object which is going to be an email, and attach it to the task you are sending the email on.

I have created custom action where an email is sent. Is there a way to attach that email to a task? and so that when the recipient replies the reply email goes into the task as well?

Wait, I spoke too soon. I thought I'd seen newobject for emails, but I don't see that in the list...any reason for that?
