Setting privacy level on user group

What are you trying to achieve on the user group level?  I just want to understand the use case.

Josh: I wanted to ensure that the discussion in a specific user group would me private. I thought that I would be able to apply a privacy setting to the "USER GROUP" itself. However, I noticed that I can only do that with a discussion group. Because I thought these two were different, I used the same name for the "USER GROUP" and the "DISCUSSION GROUP". When I try to create the other, it tells me that group already exist.  So if I create a user group for June's team, does the discussion group for that same team have to have a different name like "*June's team 1?" *

Correct, the names have to be unique across both user groups and discussion groups. To really lock down access use the discussion groups and set them to private.
