Open Timesheets

I am looking for a way to report on what I would call is Open Timesheets for a period.  In approvals there is Unsubmiited (ones peope have started editing), submitted, and approved choices to review timesheet status but no choice for open or Timesheets no one has started editing. Ultimately I want to know the open and unsubmitted timesheets so I know who to chase to complete their timesheets.

I have created reports that show all the time entries and totals but this is not a very clean way to find all the open and unsubmiteed time sheets. Any suggestions?

Hello,

Correct me if I am mistaken but I believe what you are looking for is the work that your resources are assigned to do during a given time frame, whether they entered the time in timesheets or not (i.e. Unsubmitted, Submitted or Approved)... Before there are any timesheets, there are NO timesheets, so you cannot report on this.

What you can report on is the Work allocated to Resources. You can look at their Resource Load and even create reports on their Load (allocated work). This will give you a sense of how much work they have been given, versus how much time they have submitted on those tasks.

Note that there are a number of out of the box reports that will show you informatioin by Task, Resource or Project as well as Resource Load information that may help you. Also, you can send Time tracking updates to resources (Timesheet Reminders) to remind your users to fill out their timesheets for their tasks. This is a setting in System Settings --> Time Tracking.

We are talking two different things. The expectation here is that the team must complete a minimum 40hr per week timesheet irrespective of assignments. Timesheets only show up as unsubmitted if they the user has made an edit. What is missing in any reports are blank time sheets. I want a quick view to see what timesheets are "open" (blank), unsubmitted and submitted and those that are approved.

This may be possible with some advanced customization but this would likely require some Professional Services assistance. Luckily, there was a Product call this morning and they announced a few new Apps that were just released yesterday to the public in the Apps Marketplace. One of them is called "Time Reporting Compliance". This is not out of the box functionality with Timesheets but based on a few customizations added, allows you to view a Custom Page that shows who has submitted partial time and who has submitted NO time. All their time shows as 100% compliant.

The only trick is that there is an extra step at the work Plan level. You will need to add a column named Contract Hours on the Related Resource Panel and manually apply the number of hours.

Here is the link for the App...
