How do I double-constrain task duration?

Scenario:

We have a task that must start at the same time as another task (call it predecessor #1), and it must finish at the same time that a second task finishes (call this predecessor #2). In other words, it's effectively a duration-driven task, but the length of the duration isn't a fixed number, it's a variable that is completely driven by the length of time between the start of predecessor #1 and the finish of predecessor #2. The only aspect of this task that I can fix is the units. Both work and duration will be dictated by the two constraints.

I can't come up with any good way to do this in Clarizen. Please advise. Thanks!

Christopher,

This is a great Use Case but unfortunately, we do not support multiple Predecessors/Successors which is your road block. You can currently specify two tasks to start at the same time using Link and configuring with STS (Start To Start). Then the secondary Predecessor/Successor would be configured with FTF (Finish to Finish).

Since multiple Predecessors/Successors are not currently supported, you have two options....

1 - I can submit this as a Change Request for a future release.

2 - You can post this in the Customization Forum and/or join one of our Advanced Q&A Webinars to work with one of our Customer Success Managers to see if this can be done via Customization (i.e. Workflow or Custom Action). This may or may not be possible with Customization

3 - Other options is to speak with an Account Manager regarding Professional Services.

Let me know how you wish to proceed.

Sincerely,

Boris

We have the same request - this would greatly reduce the number of templates we have to create and/or manual scheduling.

No updates. Since this would require rebuilding a substantial portion of our scheduling engine, I'm not optimistic that it will be released anytime soon.
