Outlook plugin - Create task from calendar meeting

I would like the option to open a task in a given project from the outlook plugin based on a meeting in the calendar.

The meeting is defined (topic, date, time, duration=work) and needs only relation to a project

I this this is already possible.

If you select Clarizen from the ribbon, I believe you select tasks and then there is a "Add new task". I don't have Outlook in front of me but I have done it myself previously

Hi Peter,

It's possible to access the Clarizen tab from the ribbon but I can't see an option to convert an existing meeting into a task.

I've explored the iCal subscription as well and I have two observations:

  1. It requires you to open an Internet calendar vs. converting main outlook items as I wrote previously.

  2. iCal subscription is poorly documented - I couldn't tell how to connect to it (I have Office 2010).

If I got it wrong, please advise and in addition, do you have better guide to set the iCal in Outlook?

Thanks,

Eran.

Hi Peter,

Managed to connect iCal to Outlook.

Observation 1 is correct.

In addition I can't drag an appointment from my main calendar to the Clarizen iCal.

So, this also doesn't answer my initial request.

Rgds,

Eran.

I believe you can use an Interact customization to turn a meeting into a task by forwarding it to a specific email address. I would talk to your CSM to investigate this further.

Open the meeting in Outlook.

Select the Clarizen tab > Task (Add new) > Write details about the task - you probably need to change the Parent (where the task belongs).

This creates a task for me in Clarizen

Hi Guys,

Peter - I'm familiar with the way you have described, but its not the feature I was suggesting.

In your case I work in a Clarizen interface that is activated from the plugin.

I'm looking to convert a meeting in my active calendar to a task.

Josh, I would like to learn more about Interact.

My CSM is Evgeni Haikin and he suggested to submit a feature request.

Thanks again,

Eran.

Regarding Interact, we are planning to publish and app that will let you forward a meeting invitation to an Interact email box and it will create a calendar exception.  It is not ready yet and will be published to the app store later this year (for free, but you may need the enterprise edition).

For general information on Interact, I would start with the tutorial video.  If you go to Settings >> Interact, it should pop up right away (otherwise look for the iAssistant in the corner and that will get you the video).

I had been searching in the forum and documentation for this, i think clarizen is awesome but the weakest part of all is that not all the users in a  specific company had acces to it, but in most cases many had outlook or another mail/calendar client.  at this time isnt released some update to this funcition? i had to manually  update an create task  to  sync my outlook and clarizen. also another asset will be that we  can  import the work to the icalendar  instead of a full day appointment.

greetings!
