On average one of our portfolios average 50 new projects per month. The project detail view when expanding to see all of the projects is unmanageable. I would like to be able to filter on the roadmap similar to the ability to filter on the Charts just made available. Example is only showing Active Projects. Also, the ability to sort by name, type, status, ....would be very beneficial

What you can do right now is create a Roadmap view that is based on a report. This will give you full control over sorting and filtering capabilities. You can also use the Projects module to sort and filter a list of projects, then select all and generate a Roadmap from there.
