Ability to log time against a Case

Users should be able to log hours against a case the same way that they can log against a work item

A couple scenarios:

We use requests to house a backlog of project requests in the pipeline from sales.  If a PM is spending time doing high level prep tasks prior to the launch of a project, they don't have a place to log those hours so a to-do list item is created

Hours spent on an enhancement request that may not be large enough to be part of a project

Time spent on a bug that is significant enough to warrant tracking on its own now requires an associated task to be created

Hi Gayla, it is currently being worked on but unfortunately there is no ETA on when this feature will be rolled out

I agree here. If someone enters a case and time is worked against the case then you should be able to bill time to it. I would want to know how much time someone spent working on a case. I'm surprised this doesn't do that.

Totally agree, the best practice today would be to link a task to the issue and report time on that linked task.

We would also like to see the ability to track time against a case - that would allow us to see the aggregate amount of work against specific customers, case types, etc.  

Ashley - our team also spends a considerable amount of time on pre-sales/pre-implemenation work.   In the interim, we've solved the pre-sales work problem by allowing employees to record time against projects in the draft state under generic time-tracking tasks.  That way they can still record time, but we can isolate projects that are not assigned a full team and are part of the portfolio of active engagements. Maybe that's also an option for you?
