The answer to all 3 questions is yes.

All you need to do is bring in the project (or external task/milestone) as a shortcut.  You can do this using the very first dropdown on the toolbar.  After the shortcut it in, you can use it to build your dependencies.

Not quite, although you can make dependencies that way as well.  Using existing project will bring the entire project over, which is probably not what you want.  Use the "Add Shortcut" option at the very bottom.

Hi Tonmoy,

You can do this quite easily in v6. Please note that the 99% scenario we see is to add dependencies in the same project, so the system preset is to filter only for other work items in the project you're in.

Here's what to do:

  1. Select one of the work items in the dependency.

  2. In the button ribbon, click the "Link" button

  3. In the dialog box you'll get a list of work items - filtered by those in the current project.

  4. At the top of the window is a green filter icon - click on it and deselect the checkbox "Show current project's work items"

  5. You should then be able to choose any other work item in the system that you have access to.

Note: if you have work items in the same work plan (e.g. a grandparent project), you can select both in the same work plan and use CTRL-F2 keyboard shortcut to create a finish to start dependency between them.
