Having Clarizen set a priority based on a few inputs

I was wondering if there is a way to create a action that sets the priority of a project based on how many days are left until a project is due , the importance of the project and how many hours it will tale to complete the project.  For example a project that is due tomorrow that will take 6 hours to complete that is of low importance would be a higher priority then a project that is due in two weeks will take 20 hours to complete but is of high importance.

Hi Cathan,

You can definitely configure a workflow rule that sets the Project Priority based on specific criteria, which could include 'hours to complete' or 'time to due date'.

I'll edit this forum post and change to 'Customizations' so that our advanced configuration experts can respond with some suggestions there.

Hey,

Setup a priority based calculated field is something that is doable, but requires many steps in order to support it. Basically the steps are:

  1. Create a CF that holds the Today() date in the context of a project.

  2. Step a a Scheduled Workflow Rule to update the Today field on a daily basis on your Active and/or Draft projects.

  3. Setup a calculated field (pick list or numeric) to calculate the priority of a given project based on the project's due date and today's date.

I would suggest joining one of our Advanced Configuration Q&A sessions (I hold the Friday one) and one of a success manager can take you through the steps to setup this kind of solution.

Best regards,

Tamir
