Reported Date & Approval Date - Timesheets

We are currently pulling data from Clarizen using the Excel Add-In and I would like to verify the definition of the fields Reported Date and Approval Date when pulling time sheet entries. From looking at the data that is being provided, it appears that the Reported Date is the date when the effort was performed, regardless of when it was actually entered into the system. We do not use the time sheets for anything associated with compensation, so we have our system set to auto approve time sheets.  In our case, the Approval Date appears to be the date when the effort was entered into the system.

Please let me know if this is correct or if more clarification is needed.  Thank you!

David,

These have to do with the Exchange Rates...

Exchange rates time definition rule:

Reporting time Indicates what time stamp should be used for the exchange rates selection: the activity hourly reporting time or the approval of the hourly reporting time.

To further explain, this is specific to the Currency rates in a Multi-Currency environment. As currency rates change hourly, a Manager can report/approve the changes. This setting provides the ability to set the system use the timestamp based on Reported or Approved time. Since you are using Auto-Approve of Timesheets, this is irrelevant and so your system uses Approval Time Sheets. Hope this information helps.

Sincerely,

Boris Krutiy

Thank you Boris.  This may be obvious, but just to confirm, is the Reported (not Reporting) Date just the date component of the Reporting Time?  Actually, our settings for multi-currency are Reporting Time, even though we are using the Auto-Approval  of Timesheets.

From the description you gave, it would indicate to me that the Reported Date (not Time) and the Approval Date would be the same date. However, that is not the case in the data that I am pulling in.  Here are some examples where the left column is the Reported Date for a timesheet entry and the right column is the Approval Date.

1/21/2013

1/22/2013

1/24/2013

This is why I am trying to confirm the difference. For the information I am pulling, is the Reported Date when the work actually took place (based on the date column where the hours were entered in the timesheet), and the Approval Date is when the time was actually entered (and thus auto approved)?

Like you said, if you are set to Reported Date (not Approval Date...not time) as originally thought, this means that the left column is reporting the Date when the Currency Rate change was reported within Clarizen by the Project Manager or Admin.
