Deleted user on active task

I have deleted a user who has left the company, but am getting repeated alerts on active tasks saying "Resource <User Name> has been Deleted".

These tasks are active because they are general tasks that everyone in the company needs to be able to record time to, but is there a way to stop the alerts?

I don't want to remove the user from the active tasks because he has time recorded to these tasks, and I don't want to delete those time entries.

Kerry,

There are two States for a Resource on a Work item. <User>.State and <Resource>.State. Set the user as Inactive on the Related Resource Panel (within the work item) for the field <Resource>.State. This will set them to Inactive and should stop the emails.

Thanks Boris,
We've since had another user leave the company, I've set her <Resource>.State to Inactive on all relevant tasks, but I'm still getting repeated alerts of "Resource <User Name> has been Deleted" for those tasks.
So now what am I doing wrong?
