I am looking for the same thing.  When I put a comment on text within a table, or a text box, the placeholder doesn't even try to convert.

Is it possible to provide a list of the possible fields/syntax that could be used for document publisher purposes (word and powerpoint)..?

I would suggest to use the template attached to the PPR: http://www.clarizen.com/appsmarketplace/item/Periodic-Project-Report.html

It has many examples for a Word Document, syntax is identical in PPT.
